Mesopotamia: Geography

Task:  Create a three slide Google presentation about the basic geography of Early Mesopotamia.

Learning Objective:  Explain the relationship between the geographical features of Mesopotamia and the civilization that developed there.

Process:  (see example presentation)

  • Create a Google presentation
  • Create a title slide
  • draw a map of Mesopotamia using Google drawing, and paste it into a second slide.
  • label the map with norhtern and southern Mesopotamia,  the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, the Persian Gulf, the Mediterranean Sea, the Zagros Mountains, and the following ancient city states; Ur, Kish, and Hit.
  • As discussed in class you then must show the Mesopotamian Plateau, and the Mesopotamian Plains.  Use the description in your text book on pages 150-151 to indicate the location of these features on your map.  Don't forget to create a legend that explains each feature.
  • on your third slide answer the two following questions:
  1. Describe the geography of Mesopotamia’s northern plateau, and southern plains.
  2. What is the connection between the geography of Mesopotamia and the civilization that developed there?
